Pancakes On The Rocks Surfers Paradise

Pancakes-on-the-rocks-surfers-paradise

We recently discovered pancakes and crepes are only part of the menu when Michael and I were invited to Pancakes on the Rocks in Surfers Paradise. This family restaurant has something for everyone, including a kids menu and all day breakfast. Kids up to ten years old can choose from six special main course offerings just for them, and four special desserts.

The menu caters for a wide variety of tastes, you will find Caesar salad, bacon and eggs with a hash brown, steak, pizza, and calamari. These could precede a sweet treat of plain or chocolate pancakes with fresh fruit, sauces and ice cream or, you could double dip and have a pancake experience for both courses. Main course crepes and pancakes include the classics; chicken and mushroom, and seafood crepes with salad, and for the all-day breakfast fans there is Eggs Benedict with pancakes.

We thoroughly enjoyed the marinated beef ribs, and if you prefer there are pork ribs too.

THE FISH EMPORIUM

Get a different view of Surfers Paradise. The deck of this high quality casual seafood restaurant has a beautiful view of the Surfers Paradise skyline, with the waters of the Nerang River in the foreground. You can enjoy their generous serves of high quality Australian and New Zealand seafood on the deck, as a take away or buy some fresh to cook yourself.

The menu is extensive and has some great dishes for those who don’t love seafood. Choose from share plates, pasta dishes, salads, classic fish and chips, the daily catch, and signature dishes like the local Moreton Bay Bugs with garlic, chilli and lemon oil.

We recently grabbed some takeaway, it was a restaurant quality meal traditionally wrapped in paper. The calamari beautifully tender and the batter on the whiting with chips exceptionally light and crisp.

Take the short walk to Isle of Capri or hop in the car and find plenty of parking. The Fish Emporium is open for lunch and dinner in our local shopping centre, ‘Capri on Via Roma’. It’s a modern airy building with open air and underground parking and a great selection of food and other shopping.

BLACK ANGUS BAR AND GRILL

One of our favourite local getaways is Sanctuary Cove. The picturesque Marina Village overlooks the protected waterways of the Gold Coast Broadwater, and is the venue for the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, which will next bring a buzz of heightened activity to the area on 25-28 May 2017.

We like to chill out for a few hours wandering around the marina and relax beside the glistening water with a cheese plate and glass of wine at the Black Angus.

The Black Angus cheese plate might be wonderful, showcasing local and imported cheeses, but this restaurant has been voted a Top 10 Steakhouse in Queensland and offers a great dining experience. Certified Black Angus beef and seafood are prominent on the menu. You can take the classic steakhouse route and choose your steak, sauce and sides. The Ocean Platter for two might tempt you with its abundance; Hervey Bay scallops, Mooloolaba prawns, Moreton Bay bugs and more.

Whether you choose a relaxing lunch or a special evening, you will enjoy yet another face of waterside life on the Gold Coast.
